Details for 1st weeks's activities:
- We had a group meeting first and then completed the role allocation form and deliverables form, which based on the basic knowledge referred to power divider and personal forte of each group member.
- we have learned the basic knowledge about "N-way hybrid power divider", which belongs to a kind of wilkinson power divider. It is not easy to understand the inner operation and calculation for an n-way power divider because no one of us have ever learned this field. For example, a actual circuit of an n-way hybrid power divider is shown below: Hence, we can obtains two significant equations: (1). R=Rx; (2). Zo=sqrt(n)*Ro
- We have a 2nd meeting with Dr. Zhou after learning the primary theorem of power divider. During the tutorial, Dr. Zhou explained the purpose of common junction for multiple power divider. Besides, we have got the answer about how to cancel the phase difference when cascading a four-way power divider under high frequency.
- after the meeting, we began to using ''AWR" software to constructed and simulated basic two-way power divider in our computer laboratory.
- First of all, we tried to build an ideal two-way power divider, which including varies of transmitted impedance, however, the simulation results are not based on a setting of base substrate. The phase for each component was set at 90 degree and frequency is 1GHz. The circuit schematic and input reflection graph are shown below:
- Secondly, we replace our constructed circuit with a existing power divider component of the type "WILKE1" in AWR library. Meanwhile, adding a base substrate to identify it. The obtained input reflection graph has a similar outline with previous one while there are existing a small scale of different in 3dB axis and frequency axis. The reason are referred to the setting of substrate and the different impedance of transmission line respectively. Details circuit and graph are shown below:

- Group meeting with our supervisor Dr. Zhou, the communication between each other are corresponding to the confusion of power divider.
- Using a software named "Microwave office" to constructing basic two-way power divider and simulated its function, aimed to understood the inner operation of a classical power divider.
